🚫 Absolute Contraindications (avoid sound baths)
Severe sound sensitivity or sound-triggered conditions (e.g., hyperacusis, misophonia).
Severe psychiatric conditions where auditory stimulation may trigger distress or dissociation (e.g., untreated psychosis).
Uncontrolled epilepsy or seizure disorders (low-frequency vibrations can occasionally trigger seizures).
Recent surgery, acute injury, or fractures if vibration could worsen pain or healing.
⚠️ Relative Contraindications / Cautions (may require modifications or medical advice)
Pregnancy (especially first trimester) — strong vibrations or gongs placed on/near the body are often avoided.
Pacemakers or implanted medical devices — some instruments (e.g., large gongs, Tibetan bowls placed on the body) may interfere.
Hearing conditions (e.g., tinnitus, Ménière’s disease) — sounds may aggravate symptoms.
Severe anxiety, PTSD, or trauma history — certain sounds (like sudden gong crashes) may be triggering.
Vertigo or balance disorders — vibrations and resonance can sometimes worsen dizziness.
Children or infants — their auditory systems are more sensitive; not all sessions are appropriate.
👉 In general, people with medical or mental health conditions should check with their healthcare provider before participating, and facilitators can offer gentler, modified sessions when needed.
